The Light

It is dark,
pitch dark.
People are standing in the dark,
and waiting.

People are waiting
for a glimmer of light.
As they are waiting,
it is quiet.
So quiet
a person can hear a pin drop.

The people saw
a slight glimmer of light.
A hopeful look
appeared on their faces.
The light was coming
closer and closer.
The light was starting to
get brighter and brighter.
The people were starting to
get warmer and warmer,
as they lit up their candles
from one light.

All at once,
the whole place is lit up.
That is how
God's love works
